Caoimhe Jane Reynolds
Caoimhe Jane Reynolds was born in Kuwait and is a Sculpture & Expanded Practices graduate from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin 2017. CJR has been awarded residencies in both Dubai and Dublin most recently with the Fingal County Council (2019). CJR Has furthered her studies in art, science and most recently Design Thinking for Sustainability at the Innovation Academy, UCD (2021).
CJR’s practice is an evolving theme of material and colour theory experimentations which articulates themselves in large scale architectural installations, mixed media assemblages, performances, instructional and poetic text. Her practice is heavily concerned with spacial, environmental and emotional conditions. She examines the aesthetics and ethics of our industrial and primitive relationship with built environments and ecosystems involving control, creation and comfort.
Material history, practices and manipulation are hugely important in communicating her concepts. As an artist and material maker CJR’s research looks into the stories and science of materials in hopes to inspire a responsible future. Platform Material8 was born in 2020 to encourage material activism and sustainable art practices.
